The three delivery levels differ in where the carrier's work stops and how much is left for you. In one pallet-freight provider's published terms, curbside ends at the curb or driveway. Room-of-choice ends in a room you name, and white-glove adds unpacking and packaging removal.

These labels are not a universal standard. The written terms for your own theater seating delivery decide who carries, unboxes, and assembles. Choose a level based on those terms, your route from the street to the theater room, and how much lifting your household can handle.

Curbside vs. Room-of-Choice vs. White-Glove Delivery

Compare the tiers by task: where the handoff happens, who moves the boxes after that, and who deals with the packaging. ShipEasy's pallet delivery service levels show how one freight provider splits that work.

Delivery level Handoff point What's left for you
Curbside Curb or driveway Carry inside, unbox, remove packaging, set up
Room of choice Room you name, stairs included Unbox, remove packaging, set up
White glove Inside, unpacked, packaging taken away Setup (assembly not listed)

Treat this as one provider's menu, not a rule for every seller or carrier. Your decision comes down to the gap between the handoff point and your seating room. If you have a short, flat path and helpers on hand, curbside leaves the most work for you but covers the basics. If stairs or a long carry sit between the driveway and the theater room, room-of-choice moves the heaviest part of the job to the crew. White-glove makes sense when you don't want to open heavy cartons or get rid of bulky packaging yourself.

If you're ordering from us, contact our team to confirm delivery details for your order in writing before delivery day. Ask three things: where the handoff happens, whether stairs are covered, and whether unpacking or packaging removal is included.

What Tracking and Arrival Look Like for a Seating Order

How you track an order depends on how it ships, so check whether you'll get several package tracking numbers or one freight shipment. Our Simple Style 1-seat recliner ships each seat in its own package with its own tracking number. If you order several seats, the packages may arrive on different days. Count your tracking numbers against the number of seats you ordered. Keep the route and room ready until every number shows delivered, so the last seat isn't stuck in the garage.

Pallet freight works differently, and the steps depend on the service you choose. Freightcom's white-glove guide lists scheduled delivery appointments and inside placement as baseline white-glove elements for pallets. For any freight shipment, get answers to these before the truck is dispatched: Is there a set appointment? How will you be told it's arriving? Exactly where will the driver hand it off?

Planning a bigger row, like our 3-seat theater sofa? Ask how many packages to expect and whether they travel as separate parcels or on a pallet. That one answer tells you whether to watch several tracking pages or plan around one delivery window.

Prepare the Route and Household for the Confirmed Service

Once you know where the handoff happens, prepare for every step between that point and the finished row. Work from real carton sizes and your written service scope, not guesses.

  • Measure the full path. Measure your delivery route from the handoff point to the room, including doorways, hallways, tight turns, and stairs. For a multi-seat row, also check room clearances with our 4-seat room fit guide.
  • Compare against cartons, not furniture specs. The 1-seat listing gives 133 lb as the two-armrest seat weight and 25.8 in as the minimum doorway width. Those numbers describe the seat itself. Ask for each carton's dimensions and weight before you decide whether a doorway or stairwell works.
  • Line up help for the carry that's yours. With curbside service, you move every package from the curb to the room. Once you know the carton weights, set up enough helpers for that load, and plan to stay off any stairs that feel unsafe for the group.
  • Clear the path the day before. Move rugs, side tables, wall decor, and anything else in the way. Keep kids and pets out of the route during the carry.
  • Protect the floors the boxes will cross. Cover hardwood, tile, and stair treads wherever heavy cartons will be set down or slid. Pick protection that suits each floor type.
  • Have the listed tools ready. Check the product instructions for any required tools and assembly steps, and set them out before the boxes arrive.
  • Plan for the packaging. If packaging removal isn't part of your service, decide in advance where the empty cartons and padding will go.

What Modular Packaging Does—and Does Not—Establish

A modular seat design doesn't automatically mean an easier carry. What matters is how the seat is packed. The 1-seat listing names a seat base and backrest among the package contents. It doesn't say whether they ship in separate cartons, or give each piece's size and weight. So you can't assume the pieces are lighter or easier to get up stairs or through a doorway.

Before ordering, ask for the carton count and each carton's dimensions and weight. If the components do ship separately, and each carton is smaller than the assembled seat, your helper and route plan may change. This matters more as the row grows, for example with 6-seat modular layouts, where each module adds packages to move. After everything is inside, follow our guide to connect modular theater seats into a finished row.

FAQs

Why is curbside usually the cheapest delivery option?

It has the least carrier labor. ShipEasy describes curbside as its default on most lanes and the cheapest way to move a pallet. Its room-of-choice service is priced as an add-on and shown inside the quote. Because the crew does more work at each higher tier, expect to see it in the price. Compare the full quote, not just the base shipping cost.

Does white-glove delivery always include unpacking?

No, it varies by provider. ShipEasy's white-glove tier includes unpacking and taking the packaging away. Freightcom treats unpacking and packaging removal as optional extras on top of appointment scheduling and inside placement. If you're paying for white-glove so you don't have to deal with cartons, check that your quote lists unpacking and removal by name.

Can I get white-glove delivery on any order or address?

Not always. ShipEasy says its white-glove service is enabled per account, and its pallet services cover the contiguous 48 states plus DC. Other carriers set their own limits. If you live outside the lower 48 or know you need inside service, ask about availability before checkout so you aren't stuck with curbside on delivery day.
